Under the Influence

"Under the Influence," an exhibition of new works by Paul Soldner and James Coquia, is being exhibited through June 24 at the Xiem Clay Center Gallery (www.xiemclaycenter.com) in Pasadena, California. Since 1999, the production and firing of many of Soldner's pieces has been facilitated with the assistance of Coquia, Soldner's junior by 51 years. Coquia cites his involvement with Soldner as sparking new conceptual and technical initiatives in his own creative development. The title of the exhibition, conceived by Kirk Delman, curator of the Marer Collection at Scripps College and close friend of both artists, salutes and satirizes the relationship of Soldner and Coquia.
